SUPPORT SOSCA

 ONCE GONE -
GONE FOREVER

PLEASE SUPPORT US AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Many of you will be aware of the Government’s plans to deregulate planning and its atrocious White Paper. It is becoming increasingly obvious that what is unfurling before our eyes is a total desecration of the South East. Its rolling fertile farmland and coastal areas will be ‘drowning in developments’ and it is about to happen now! We quote RIBA’s comment on the Planning White Paper “there is every chance this could lead to the next generation of slum housing”. An appalling legacy for future generations. What is however desperately needed is affordable housing. This policy could-

JOIN CHICHESTER IN THE EAST WITH EASTBOURNE

and

CHICHESTER IN THE WEST WITH SOUTHAMPTON

CREATING A CONCRETE RIBBON ALONG THE ENTIRE SOUTH COAST

It centralises planning and in doing so will silence our democratic voice

The supposedly ‘good’ intentions of this government do not live up to the reality. Our Prime Minister spoke on behalf of the UK Government at the IPBES International Forum: He said:

‘The British Government is absolutely tacking biodiversity loss seriously…we are already doing so much about this…one step on a journey of many miles…but we must turn those words into action…binding targets…make the changes we need to achieve these goals…we must act now, right now…catastrophic for us all…extinction is forever…our action must be immediate.’ But…

THE REALITY IS:

  • In the league table of all European nations on the protection of its nature UK is third from last.

  • We already have a huge number of species that are on the endangered list.

  • Our acres of wetlands are being destroyed

  • Most of our rivers and streams are polluted

  • Due to Climate Change and rising sea levels the Manhood Peninsula will be the first to flood

  • Our ‘Protected’ areas are being downgraded due to the lack of investment in infrastructure…and more

We are very grateful for all the support everyone has given us but to be truly successful we need to get more people involved to get our message across to Westminster. We do not have the luxury of years – it is now a matter of only months.

THIS WILL NEED MORE HELP

SOSCA is made up of committed volunteers who are already doing so much – writing to and lobbying SE MPs, demonstrating, writing reports, working with national partners such as CPRE, building a Solent Solidarity group, and communicating with other desperately concerned Action Groups. But we could do so much more if we had some extra funding.

Anything you can manage to donate will help us with the running costs of our website and pay for photography and printing of flyers and banners.

Evidence Wanted

EVIDENCE WANTED!

WE NEED VIDEOS AND PHOTOS OF SEWAGE DISCHARGES

Our harbours, estuaries, and wetlands that unfold across the Chichester Coastal Plain need our help now.

The political situation is such that:

  • Southern Water will continue to flood these highly protected seas with untreated sewage until such time as they see fit to update their infrastructure.

  • This could take decades.

  • There is no Government legislation that demands they commence immediately.

  • Our respective MPs do not demand their Government to demand they commence immediately.

  • Our District Councillors do not demand of their MPs to demand of their Government to commence immediately.

  • Our District Councillors continue to grant hundreds of Planning Applications with the full knowledge that the WWT centres are already at overcapacity.

  • This will result in our seas, our bio-diversity, our wildlife, our entire eco system being destroyed through pollution.

  • This will result in the rise of human and animal infections.

  • This situation goes against all that this Government has shouted to the World about the brilliance of their policies to protect Britain’s environment when hosting COP26.

WE HAVE TO ACT NOW - HOW YOU CAN HELP NOW

Using your phone or IPad in the LANDSCAPE shape (ie: not portrait) we need:

.

Videos of sewage outflows at the scene of discharge AND its surroundings

  • Videos of any upsurges in homes, gardens, high streets as well.

.

Make a note of: Sender’s name; date of film; location as exact as possible; and brief description of what you have filmed. Send as Attachments to: contact@sosca.org.uk

.

SOSCA has joined together with an Environment Film company who will compile this evidence and create a time ‘story’ of just how appalling the reality of the situation is.

Please forward this on to as many people as possible.

.

Thank You.
